Robert "Travis" Wooley

Robert "Travis" Wooley is a Removal Defense Attorney at Santanna Law who is deeply passionate about immigrant rights. He is fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and conversant in Spanish brings a unique cultural perspective to his work, having previously lived in Brazil. His commitment to advocacy is reflected in his extensive experience representing individuals in complex removal proceedings across the United States.

Travis has a specialized focus on protecting vulnerable populations, including women and survivors of domestic violence from Central and South America. His legal practice has also involved representing Indian political activists and members of the LGBTQ+ community in immigration courts throughout California, Chicago, Michigan, New York, Louisiana, and Washington. He is skilled at navigating shifting legal landscapes, having analyzed Ninth Circuit precedents following major judicial decisions like Loper-Bright and the overturning of Chevron deference to better serve his clients.

Beyond removal defense, Travis has significant experience managing nonimmigrant programs and pathways to permanent residency for multinational clients. He has handled all facets of the permanent resident process, including drafting petitions for EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3 classifications, as well as National Interest Waivers. His work has included advising on visa programs such as the L-1 and H-1B, facilitating approvals through direct liaison with USCIS, and implementing automated processes to improve case efficiency.

 

Travis earned his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School, where he attended as a Governor’s Scholar with a full tuition academic scholarship. During law school, he served as the President of the Levin Center Student Organization, Article Editor for the Journal of Law and Society, and a student attorney in the Asylum and Immigration Law clinic. He also gained experience as an intern for the Detroit Immigration Court. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Portuguese from the University of Michigan, where he was a varsity student-athlete in football and competitive cheerleading and received multiple Scholar Athlete Awards.

An active member of the State Bar of Michigan, Travis balances his legal career with a love for adventure. He is a dedicated outdoor enthusiast and mountain climber who finds balance in nature when he is not advocating for his clients in the courtroom.
